Church of Latter-Day Saints in Kettering
Update from the church about using the resources.
The church is open for anyone wishing to use the resources of the Family Search website. More resources are available via the Family Search portal at the Church than are available on the Family Search website. The following has been received from Katrina, one of the volunteers at the Church.
We meet in a classroom in the LDS chapel on Rothwell Road, Kettering. At the moment we do not have static computers, so attendees need to bring their own devices although there are usually a couple of spare laptops brought by the helper volunteers. To access the Familysearch portal, devices need to have either Chrome or Firefox downloaded in order to download an extension. We are finding this is a bit hit and miss on tablets but seems to work better on laptops. The portal gives the user access to Ancestry (worldwide) and Find My Past as well as being able to read restricted access films on Familysearch. We recommend that anyone wanting to look up films comes pre-prepared with a list of film numbers that they wish to look up to get the maximum benefit from their visit. You don’t have to use the portal, if someone just wants a bit of help, that’s fine too.
Generally, sessions are held on the first and third Tuesdays and Wednesdays of every month (excluding December which is first week only).
Tuesdays are 7-9pm and Wednesdays are 10am till noon.
Volunteers will be there to assist you. Booking is not required.
