The main work presently being done is the transcribing of the deposited Marriage Registers for the period 1754 and 1837. We have volunteers who help with the photocopying of the registers whilst others help with the transcribing, checking and quality control. With around 370 parishes in the county it will take some time to complete this project but so far around 33,000 marriages from 100 parishes have been completed. Each entry contains the full detailed transcription from the Register including witnesses and whether by Licence or Banns. An index of all the names is included in the Personal Names Database (PND) whilst the full entries are included in the Marriage Database. If you can help with photocopying registers at Northamptonshire Record Office, transcribing, inputting to a spreadsheet, checking or quality control of data (some knowledge of old style writing and geographical knowledge of the county is an advantage) then please contact our Database Co-ordinator: Keith Rippin Please click here to take you to the Marriage Database Search service. |
