The Society is presently transcribing the deposited Marriage Registers for the period 1754 and 1837. Volunteers help with the photocopying of the registers at the Northamptonshire Record Office and with transcribing, checking and quality control. With around 370 parishes in the county it will take some time to complete this project but so far details of 87,000 marriages from 245 parishes have been added to our Marriage Database. Additional data is awaiting quality control. Each entry contains the full detailed transcription from the Register including witnesses and whether by Licence or Banns. An index of all the names is included in the Personal Names Database (PND) whilst the full entries are included in the Marriage Database. If you can help with transcribing, inputting to a spreadsheet, checking or quality control of data (some knowledge of old style writing and geographical knowledge of the county is an advantage) then please contact our Database Co-ordinator: Keith Rippin Please click here to take you to the Marriage Database Search service. |
