PARISH REGISTERS TRANSCRIPTS

The postal loan service is run by John Hodges (johnhodges@tesco.net) and the documents included are transcripts and indexes of Northamptonshire parish registers. These are available for loan to UK members of the society. A list of available transcripts can be obtained from the Librarian or click the link below.

The procedure is as follows:

1.
Contact John by e-mail or post, quoting your NFHS membership number, to find out the cost of borrowing the documents you require. If contacting John by post, please remember to include a SAE. The cost of borrowing the documents will be the postage cost plus a small percentage for stationery.
2.
If the cost is acceptable, send a cheque, payable to ‘Northamptonshire FHS’, to John at 3 Arkwright Road, Milton Ernest, Bedford, MK44 1SE. (Borrowers are reminded that they will have to pay a similar amount in postage to return the documents.)
3.
The documents will be sent out to you as soon as possible. You may keep them for up to 4 weeks before returning them.

As an alternative to sending out documents by post, they can be brought to Kettering meetings of the society by prior arrangement. There is no charge for borrowing documents in this manner.

This postal service is limited to UK members only, for various reasons. However, John is willing to look up individual entries for overseas members if contacted by e-mail.
